ABOUT US:

WHO WE ARE:

SOS Street Outreach Society is a resident led, action-oriented, volunteer group engaged in helping Ottawa’s homeless street population. We are an incorporated not-for-profit society, Ottawa’s largest volunteer street outreach.

WHAT WE DO:

Thanks to the generosity of the community, our team brings food, clothing, other necessities, friendship, compassion and hope to people living on the streets or in poverty. We help our Most Vulnerable Persons (MVPs) transition to compassionate care housing; resuscitate MVPs from overdose; guide officials and the public towards finding solutions to solve the crises of rampant homelessness, mental and physical health concerns and addiction; assume leadership in action and create public awareness.

WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE:

Our volunteers appreciate the importance of meeting and serving MVPs exactly where they are at now – both physically and mentally. With “feet on the street” we embody a non-judgemental, careful help and harm reduction approach, providing MVPs with basic life necessities and foster a sense of self-worth to all. As our main tool, we use compassion to build trust-based relationships.
